2022 Heritage Gala

Celebrating the Rich History of Abilene and the Philharmonic

Please make plans to join us on February 26, 2022 for the Abilene Philharmonic Guild’s annual Heritage Gala. We are Celebrating the Rich History of Abilene and the Philharmonic as this year’s theme and are excited to announce the venue will be the newly renovated Abilene Country Club Ballroom!  This will be the 62nd  major fundraiser the Guild has held to support the Abilene Philharmonic, currently in its 71st concert season of providing exceptional symphonic music for our community.

The Abilene Philharmonic Guild was founded in 1954 in an effort to support the Abilene Philharmonic through volunteering, fundraising, and community. Proceeds from the annual Gala benefit our beloved orchestra which annually presents a full season of Masterworks and Pops concerts, as well as the many high-quality music education programs such as the Discover Music Children’s Concerts, Abilene Youth Orchestra, Baby Music of Abilene, musician masterclasses and instrument petting zoos.

We are also excited to announce this year’s honoree, Joanne Bacchus Vaughan, MD. Joanne has been a Guild member since 2011 and has served in numerous positions including Guild President for two years, Ball Chair, and Treasurer. In her professional life, Joanne practiced neurology in Abilene with her husband, Daniel Vaughan, MD, and is now retired. She and her husband have been season ticket holders of the Philharmonic since 1995, and she is also heavily involved in the Texas Association of Symphony Orchestras (TASO). She is very deserving of this much overdue honor!

The day’s events begin with the Heritage Brunch, which will highlight the accomplishments of our Senior Belles and Beaus. Then the evening Gala will transport you in time, starting with an elegant Donors Reception, presentation of the Gala honoree, followed by the presentation of the Senior Belles and Beaus, a memorable dinner, and an evening of dancing to the music of “Memphis Soul” of Dallas.  The evening’s master of ceremonies will be local historian and author Jay Moore.

We need great people like you to be involved in our fundraising endeavor. Abilene is fortunate to have a philharmonic orchestra of such exceptional quality and the success of the Heritage Gala helps ensure the future of the orchestra in our community.

Thank you in advance for your generous support and consideration.
