The Abilene Philharmonic's 69th Concert Season begins with the emotional Mahler Symphony No. 4 featuring Lynnette Chambers in the final movement singing the poem "Das himmlishe Leben" translated "The Heavenly Life". The second half features John Hopkins University cello professor and world renowned cellist, Amit Peled, performing Dvorak Cello Concerto.
The Abilene Philharmonic’s second performance of the season features symphonic photochoreography provided by Westwater Arts. During the performance of Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait and Rodeo Suite, photos will be projected on multiple digital displays above the orchestra creating a full multimedia concert experience. Narrating the powerful Lincoln Portrait is Abilene’s own Mayor Anthony Williams. Also on the program is a suite from the comedic opera by Richard Strauss, Der Rosenkavalier, and Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis.
